Angel-A supernatural being found in many religions. In Christianity, Judaism, Zoroastrianism and Islam, angels, as attendants or guardians to man, typically act as messengers from God.

Apparition-An appearance to a human of a ghost.

Astral Projection-A controversial interpretation of lucid dreaming (or deep meditation) as an out of body experience.

Automatic Writing-Written or typed material produced without the control of the conscious self. It is a flow of intelligent writing produced in a disassociated state. This is a common form of medium ship but is also not always true medium ship. Automatic writing is a source of countless cases of self-delusion.

Aura-A field of energy that surrounds living creatures.

Channeling-The act of allowing an intelligence not in human form to express through oneself.

Clairaudience-An auditory form of ESP paranormal information is received outside the range of normal perception through voices.

Clairsentience-General term for clairvoyance and clairaudience. Clairsentience typically occurs in the form of ESP through physical sensations or smells.

Clairvoyance-Apparent power to perceive things that are not present to the senses .

Crop Circle-A Geometric or abstract pattern formed by the flattening of crops, thought to be of extraterrestrial origins

Cryptozoology-The study of evidence concerning creatures whose existence is uncertain. "Crpyptids" (Lockness, Bigfoot, Loveland Frog)

Cryptid-Any animal or creature that has been reported to have existed, but has not been proven to. The literal meaning of the word is "the study of hidden animals".

Debunk-Debunkers are scientific skeptics who attempt to disprove and pursue what they consider to be false, unscientific, bizarre or abnormal claims.

Demon-In religion, folklore, and mythology a demon (or daemon, dæmon, or even daimon) is a supernatural being that has generally been described as a malevolent spirit, and in Christian terms it is an angel not following God.

Direct Writing-Term for a spirit writing without human or mechanical assistance.

EMF: Electromagnetic Frequency -An instrument for measuring the magnitude and direction of a magnetic field. It is thought that a "Spirit" Collects energy to manifest itself and high or fluctuating EMF readings are thought by some to be caused by this.

ESP: Extra Sensory Perception-Communication or perception by means other than the physical senses.

EVP: Electronic Voice Phenomenon-Voices and sounds that are captured and recorded on digital or magnetic tape that are not heard at time of recording. Believed to be voices of spirits trying to communicate.

Exorcism-Any method to expel from an individual or place: 1. Satan, 2. some other demon, 3. multiple evil spirits, or 4. an offensive ghost (discarnate human). Exorcism may include commanding the alleged offender, attempts at persuasion, rituals, special prayers, spells, or symbolism.

Hyperesthesia-Heightened sensitivity to stimuli.

Infrared-Electromagnetic waves whose frequency range is above that of microwaves, but below that of the visible spectrum.

Inhuman Haunting-An inhuman haunting is thought to be demonic or none human

Intelligent Haunting-An intelligent haunting is thought by some to be a haunting by a responsive entity, and dynamic in nature unlike a residual haunting. Mothman-The name given to a strange creature reported in the Charleston and Point Pleasant areas of West Virginia between November 1966 and December 1967. The creature was sporadically reported to be seen before and after those dates, with some sightings as recent as 2005.

Myth-A traditional story accepted as history.

ORB-The term orb is the popular name given to typically circular anomalies appearing in photographs.

Paranormal-Beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation.

Parapsychology-Derived from the Latin word para, which means beyond, parapsychology literally means beyond psychology. It is generally defined as the scientific study of paranormal phenomena.

Poltergeist-A haunting that involves noisy ghosts and no visible manifestations. May involve moving objects.

Postcognition-The alleged paranormal transfer of information about an event or object in the past.

Precognition-The ability to predict or have knowledge of something in advance of its occurrence, especially by extrasensory perception.

Premonition-A warning of an impending event, experienced as foreboding, anxiety and intuitive sense of dread.

Psychokinesis-The power of the mind to affect matter without physical contact, especially in inanimate and remote objects by the exercise of psychic powers.

Pyrokinesis-The ability to unconsciously control and sometimes in rare cases produce fire with their mind only.

Remote Viewing-Remote viewing allows a viewer to use his or her intuitive abilities to gather information on a target consisting of an object, place, or person, etc., which is hidden from the physical perception of the viewer and typically separated from the viewer in space by some distance.

Residual Haunting-Experiences from the living that are imprinted in a specific location and are replaying on a cyclical basis, like the playback of a movie.

Sasquatch (AKA. Bigfoot, Yeti, Abominable Snowman)-Large hairy humanoid creature said to live in wilderness areas around the world.

Sensitive-Someone who is aware or can detect paranormal events beyond the range of their five human senses.

Telekinesis-A form of Psychokinesis which involves moving objects with the mind without ever physically coming in contact with them.

Telepathy-Communication from one mind to another through means other than the senses.

UFO: Unidentified Flying Object-Referring to mystery movements in the sky  

Vortex-An anomaly that appears as a funnel or rope-like image in photographs. These images are sometimes thought to represent ghosts, collections of orbs or gateways which travel to a wormhole in time-space. There has been no substantial scientific evidence to support any of these theories.
